Metaphors Y
Passage 1:
With her books placed neatly in front of her, she took a seat at her study table. Although she wanted very much to focus on her text, her mind drifted off as usual. She thought about the future- the near future, and started counting. After much counting (yes, her mathematics is atrocious.), and counting... And counting... To her horror, she has ONLY 13 days left. :( The next thing she knew, she was a kan cheong spider. With her books sprawled everywhere, she started rushing through her notes, trying to ABSORB every teeny weeennnyy detail...
Today's metaphor of the day is...
"she was a KAN CHEONG spider."
The spider is seen as a creature that moves in a hurry-scurry manner. The author depicts herself as such, where she does her things in a confused rush due to a shortage of time. This is likened to a spider.
Bonus question: Can you spot the irony in this passage?
