Give thanks to the LORD Y

I went for the Thanksgiving service last sunday. It was so early in the morning my whole household nearly missed the service. Haha. It was reallie nice, we combined with the other churches for this service. We had DRUMS! How awesome was that?! I love the drums. ALthough I do noe that yeah, we should still be able to praise God even without any instruments. But having drums felt like I was back in Grace AOG. Haha.

Anyway, the pastor preached about Psalm 136. It speaks of giving thanks to God!

Psalm 136

1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good.
His love endures forever.

2 Give thanks to the God of gods.
His love endures forever.

3 Give thanks to the Lord of lords:
His love endures forever.

4 to him who alone does great wonders,
His love endures forever.

5 who by his understanding made the heavens,
His love endures forever.

6 who spread out the earth upon the waters,
His love endures forever.

7 who made the great lights—
His love endures forever.

8 the sun to govern the day,
His love endures forever.

9 the moon and stars to govern the night;
His love endures forever.

10 to him who struck down the firstborn of Egypt
His love endures forever.

11 and brought Israel out from among them
His love endures forever.

12 with a mighty hand and outstretched arm;
His love endures forever.

13 to him who divided the Red Sea ^[a] asunder
His love endures forever.

14 and brought Israel through the midst of it,
His love endures forever.

15 but swept Pharaoh and his army into the Red Sea;
His love endures forever.

16 to him who led his people through the desert,
His love endures forever.

17 who struck down great kings,
His love endures forever.

18 and killed mighty kings—
His love endures forever.

19 Sihon king of the Amorites
His love endures forever.

20 and Og king of Bashan—
His love endures forever.

21 and gave their land as an inheritance,
His love endures forever.

22 an inheritance to his servant Israel;
His love endures forever.

23 to the One who remembered us in our low estate
His love endures forever.

24 and freed us from our enemies,
His love endures forever.

25 and who gives food to every creature.
His love endures forever.

26 Give thanks to the God of heaven.
His love endures forever.

Sometimes, it's easy to give thanks to God because of all the wonderful and gr8t things He's done.. That apparently seems to benefit us. Like giving thanks to go cause he governs the day, etc. But in verse 10 and some others below, it talks about giving thanks to God for striking down the firstborn of Egypt, and mighty kings...

All in all, it's like... give thanks to God who brings judgement to pass...

Deuteronomy 32:43
Rejoice, O nations, with his people,
for he will avenge the blood of his servants;
he will take vengeance on his enemies
and make atonement for his land and people.

Zephaniah 3:14-15

14 Sing, O Daughter of Zion;
shout aloud, O Israel!
Be glad and rejoice with all your heart,
O Daughter of Jerusalem!

15 The LORD has taken away your punishment,
he has turned back your enemy.
The LORD, the King of Israel, is with you;
never again will you fear any harm.

:) That's gr8t! God keeps his promises, we rejoice in a God who judges!

Sounds like we're praising God who's a sadist...

But... God isn't a sadist. He actually delays judgement day...

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

So we serve an aweosme God people!! :)) Give thanks to God for HIS LOVE ENDURES FOREVER! :))
